Does Health Insurance Cover Dental Implant Surgery?
The short answer is maybe. Most dental insurance plans cover preventive care, but coverage for implants varies. Some plans may cover just a portion of the procedure cost.
Providers will typically cover dental implants only if it’s medically necessary – meaning when a patient has great difficulty chewing or breathing from tooth or bone loss (especially from cancer, cancer treatment, or a non-functioning prosthesis).
You will need to contact your insurance provider to find out exactly what’s covered.
Which Dental Insurance Does Lewis Family & Implant Dentistry Accept?
We are slowly going out of network for most insurances, but still accept some others. The following are insurances we currently accept:
Delta Dental
MetLife
Aetna
Guardian
Regence
Blue Cross/Blue Shield
Principal
United Concordia
United Healthcare
Even though we will not be “In Network” with most of these insurances, you can still use their insurance benefits at our office.
Will Medicare or Medicaid Pay for Dental Implants?
In most cases, Medicare does not cover dental implants. They’re typically not covered unless medically necessary. We understand that this is important for those on a fixed income. So check with your medicare or medicaid policy before you schedule your appointment.
